Traveling to Norway

So here it goes....we were scheduled to depart on 07/28/2008, and as my luck would have it the airline went on strike that morning. We didn't know this before checking in, so we spent about 8 hours in DIA before we were able to board the plane. Let me just say, sitting and waiting with a two year old is a blast.

Prior to finding out our flight was delayed, Josh and I entered the airport, and were stopped by the IST (International Security Team). They look like airport officials and try and sell you on wrapping your luggage in saran wrap to avoid stolen items from your bag during random searches. We didn't realize that this was only a service and not mandatory, so we paid the five dollars for each bag to be wrapped. Only then later to be extremely embarrassed that we fell for the scam and also trying to find a garbage can for all the plastic wrap we had to rip off of our bags once we arrived. Dumb Americans....

Josh and I eventually decided that this trip was purely going to be a learning experience, and then tried to prepare ourselves for all of the upcoming mistakes that were going to happen. Like when we finally arrived in Frankfurt and were dying of thirst, so we stopped and bought two bottles of water for about $10, only then to turn the corner and have to go through another security checkpoint and after one drink had to throw them away. We then kept our fingers crossed hoping that our future mishaps weren't all going to be that expensive.
